Zoltan Boros is an Award- Winning Fine Art portrait photographer, born in Hungary, Budapest, raised in Key West, Florida, now live and based in Sarasota, Florida. His inspiration came from the “old masters” of the 19th-century, like Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet…
His intention is to capture organic timeless/classic portraits of people/families, but not just photographs, but works of art.
Zoltan’s love of portraits (photography/ drawing) began at the age of 16, when he started drawing portraits of people in the street of Budapest - during the Summer break. After ending his mandatory military service, his passion for photography, filmmaking, art, and antique restoration became his main attention.
In 1991 he moved to “paradise”, beautiful Key West, Florida, where he continued his career as an antique restorator, photographer and filmmaker. His restoration business become recognized and awarded multiple times, by The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, Curry Mansion and Museum, Key West Museum of Art and History at the Custom House, President Truman, Roosevelt and Eisenhower’s winter vacation home just to name a few. In 2010, he obtained his American citizenship through his involvement in antique restoration work.
Tragedy struck in 2005 when a category 5 hurricane named Wilma wreaked havoc on Zoltan’s life. The devastating natural disaster not only destroyed the majority of his artwork and cherished collections but also claimed his home and his beloved “temple,” submerging it under 5 feet of water. This catastrophic event shook the very core of his being, leaving his soul and career in ruins. “I watched my art, my temple, my soul slip through my fingers.”For a considerable period, his artistic journey was overshadowed by this immerse loss. However, time has proven to be a remarkable healer. Today, he stands resilient as a full-time artist, having navigated the arduous path of rebuilding not only his career but his spirit as well. Reflecting on the profound impact of the past, he contemplates the uncertain road ahead, pondering the question: “Where to go now?”
In the past two decades his never ending love and passion for photography and filmmaking awarded him numerous times. 2019 Official Selection of “ANGELS” (film)2021 Jury Award Nominee of “FLIGHT TO LIFE” (film), 2022 fine art portrait winner of Los Angeles Photography Awards and Paris Play Films Festival. In 2023, he has earned an Honorable Mention by the American Golden Picture International Film Festival and Finalist by Simply Indie Film Fest, also his fine art photograph (THE FUTURE OF THE PAST) has been selected at France International Film Festival, also at Hollywood Screenings Film Festival in Los Angeles, California.
His deep appreciation for French art has been significantly shaped by his childhood French art teacher. Among the most cherished memories of that time, he chose to name his fine art portrait business ‘PORTRAITS DE IMPRESSIONNISTE,’ reflecting his enduring love for the artistic traditions that first captivated him during his formative years.
